VAN DELFT Loes

Loes van Delft (1991, Drunen, The Netherlands) is an internationally acclaimed artist with a distinctive and instantly recognisable visual language. Her work is characterised by playful, cartoon-like figures with large eyes and a subtle sense of melancholy, where light and shadow, humour and vulnerability coexist. “I don’t paint reality; I paint my reality,” Van Delft explains. Her art functions as a personal diary, inviting the viewer into moments of recognition and quiet contemplation.

After graduating from the Sint Lucas Academy of Art in 2012, Van Delft embarked on her career as an independent artist. That same year, at just 21 years old, she was awarded the Best Global Artist Award at the Amsterdam International Art Fair, a milestone that marked the beginning of her rapidly internationalising career.

Working with acrylic paint, spray paint and ink, Van Delft effortlessly blurs the boundaries between fine art and contemporary culture. Her work reveals a high level of technical mastery and a refined eye for detail and finish. While her imagery appears playful and seemingly naïve, it is underpinned by a strong emotional depth that invites the viewer to look closer.

Alongside her autonomous practice, Van Delft collaborates selectively with leading brands such as Franck Muller, Duvel and Heinen Delfts Blauw. Throughout these collaborations, her work remains true to its core: art that touches, slows down and adds colour to everyday life.

Her studio in Belgium, surrounded by nature, provides the peace and focus she needs to create. “I’ve learned to follow my own rhythm and not say yes to everything,” she says. “My greatest dream is to keep growing, to go deeper, and to create art that truly moves people.”

Encountering a work by Loes van Delft is like stepping briefly into another world; playful, layered and emotionally resonant without being loud. It is not art of political or social commentary, but of personal stories and quiet recognition. “I hope people pause for a moment,” Van Delft says. “That they feel something they can’t immediately name, but still recognise. If someone finds a small part of themselves in my work, then it has truly succeeded.”

Her oeuvre is collected and exhibited worldwide by renowned galleries and museums, including a complete acquisition by the Deji Art Museum in China.
