Isabelle Scheltjens, born in 1981 in Belgium, already demonstrated her artistic talent at a young age. She studied at the Stedelijk Instituut voor Sierkunsten en Ambachten (SISA) in Antwerp, where she further developed her skills and broadened her artistic horizons.
The glass creations of her husband, Dirk Neefs, served as a source of inspiration for Isabelle, leading her to an innovative approach to the versatile possibilities of glass as a creative medium.
It took years of dedicated practice and experimentation with countless pieces of colored glass to develop her own method of creating portraits through glass mosaic.
With a profound understanding of color theory, Isabelle has developed her unique glass fusing technique, in which various pieces of glass in different colors, sizes, and textures are melted together in a glass kiln to form harmonious wholes.
Her oeuvre exhibits an intriguing duality: up close, the colorful glass fragments appear abstract, but from a distance, they unfold into detailed and expressive portraits.
Isabelle’s artworks are truly unique. In just 10 years, she has garnered global admiration and recognition with her exhibitions worldwide and is internationally acclaimed by numerous art collectors.
