PAINTING AS A LANGUAGE
Charles Plétincx, born July 28, 2006 in Uccle – Belgium, was diagnosed with dysphasia at five years old. His thoughts go too fast, his words don’t follow, they get mixed up in his head. His world is turned upside down. He draws to make himself understood, to explain himself. Drawing and painting become his language, his universe. “My nature is that I paint, I didn’t choose it, it was imposed on me,” says Charles. The school career is the beginning of the suffering of not being able to express oneself, of feeling different. Daily harassment from people who don’t understand him and who he doesn’t understand. Painting becomes his only means of expressing his frustrations and his emotions..

LIFE AND ITS PARADOXES
His imagery creates a universe that speaks of life and its paradoxes. A universe where humans, animals and plants coexist. He is fascinated by the power of nature, solid and vulnerable at the same time. With the pressing question: “How can we coexist in the universe?” This is the quest he describes in his works. Seek to understand the world.

NARRATIVE ART
Effectively blending figurative expressionism and surrealism, this young, self-taught artist employs sculptural brushstrokes and vibrant colors for compositions full of movement and emotion. Entirely devoted to his creation, Charles Plétincx’s paintings have the ability to tell stories and evoke an energy that is both serious and festive.
