PAINTING AS LANGUAGE
Charles Plétincx, born on 28 July 2006 in Uccle, Belgium, was diagnosed with dysphasia at the age of five. His thoughts move too fast, his words cannot keep up; they blend and collide in his mind. His world is shaken. He begins to draw to make himself understood, to explain what he cannot express verbally. Drawing and painting become his language, his universe. “My nature makes me paint. I didn’t choose it — it was imposed on me,” Charles says.
LIFE AND ITS PARADOXES
His imagery creates a universe that speaks of life and its paradoxes — a world where humans, animals and plants coexist. He is fascinated by the power of nature, at once strong and vulnerable. One question drives him: “How can we coexist in the universe?” This quest — trying to understand the world — is what he describes through his works.
NARRATIVE ART
Blending figurative expressionism with surrealism, this young self‑taught artist uses sculptural brushstrokes and vibrant colours to create compositions full of movement and emotion. Entirely devoted to his creative world, Charles Plétincx’s paintings have the ability to tell stories and evoke an energy that is both serious and celebratory.
