November eight, 2023, marks 75 years since the revolutionary CoBrA movement was founded in Paris. Now 75 years later, we look back on the short but eventful life of an artistic movement that opposed all forms of artistic oppression and fought for artistic freedom, free thinking and the action of free painting. After creative expression had been suppressed for decades, the CoBrA art movement caused a storm in the post-war years. Pushing forward concepts of freedom and vitality, a group of young progressives from Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam (CoBrA) completely revolutionised the art scene.
